The Victoria and Albert Museum in London ran one of their most anticipated exhibitions to date, ‘Pink Floyd: Their Mortal Remains’. Described as fascinating, beautiful and stunning, it’s no surprise that the project overtook the wildly popular 2013 David Bowie show, with the gallery announcing it was extending ‘Their Mortal Remains’ due to the overwhelming ticket demand.

Hosted by the prestigious V&A in Knightsbridge, London, the museum successfully produced the first international retrospective of one of the world’s most influential bands, from their debut in the 1960s through to the present day.

The VSI Group is a longstanding supporter of the creative arts and has proudly worked for prestigious clients in the past, such as the New York Metropolitan Opera and the Van Abbemuseum in Amsterdam. Our teams worldwide also share a significant history of working on exhibitions for major clients from the arts and culture sector.

After being approached by Hipgnosis Ltd, the London subtitling team was delighted to be asked to work on the screen material for ‘Pink Floyd: Their Mortal Remains’, one of the most iconic shows in the history of the V&A.

The team put their localisation skills to the test, translating and subtitling the entire exhibition from English into Italian and German. Ensuring that the subtitles were at a comfortable reading speed, were accurately timed and in accordance with the unique style of the exhibition was of paramount importance, so when it came to the final proofreading stage, the team was, as always, especially vigilant.

VSI London utilised its extensive database of qualified translators and planned the project with sufficient contingency to ensure all materials were delivered on time.

Outcome

As the exhibition prepares to tour Italy and Germany, we’re grateful to have played a part in its formation.
